Unfair windscreen quoting from corporate windscreen repairers - Windscreen shoppers be aware

unethical windscreen salesmanHave you been shopping around to find a competitive price for your windscreen replacement? You may have fallen victim to a brand name company that is using unethical tactics.

The system is very simple but very effective in extracting as much money as possible from you the customer. Here is how the scheme operates.

You ring the call centre to obtain a windscreen quote, however before you are quoted you will be asked lots of questions about your vehicle, where you live and your personal contact details. If the customer does not make an appointment right away during this call it assumed you will be shopping around. The quote at this level for generic glass is approximately $400/$500.

You details are then passed on to an aggressive sales team. Their job is to try and persuade you to make a booking, however if you have been shopping around by this time its likely you will have been quoted half the price elsewhere. In a desperate attempt to sound credible they may say you were incorrectly quoted, they are overstocked or a technician is in your area right now. They will reduce there price to the correct rate in attempt to secure the sale. They may also state that their quality is better and they have the best technicians in the business. This is completely untrue as most of the work force is made up from aggressive sales people and cheap trainee labour.

These aggressive marketing call backs are not only illegal and an invasion of your privacy, but are unethical. They are designed to extract as much revenue out of each customer as possible based on your estimated net worth.

You have to ask yourself if a company has tried to take you for a fool once would you trust a second time when they call you back with more lies? Windscreen shoppers should be aware next time your Windscreen is O' Broken.

If you agree these kinds of sales tactics are unfair there are some steps you can take to avoid paying to much for the same glass.

Don't give your contact details for a windscreen quote. You need only give these details if you make an official booking. If the company will not quote you without you giving all your details hang up and find one that will. All you will require for a quote is your vehicle details and approximate location.

Don't give your specific address for a windscreen quote. These details can be used to estimate your net worth and charge you more. If a sales rep asks for your address just say Gold Coast, Townsville or Brisbane etc. This should be all that is required for a windscreen quote.
