Mercedes C Class Corrosion sealing flange of rear windscreen

There is a common problem with corrosion won the Mercedes C Class. Under the rear windscreen were there can be rust on the weld joint at the sealing flange under the rear windscreen.

Mercedes Benz Models include. WDB129, 140, 170, 202, 203, 208, 209, 210, 211, 215, 220, 230.

Corrosion behind the windscreen can cause water leaks, wind noise and in extreme cases if left untreated could swell and break the rear windscreen. The problem with the corrosion is you will only know if your vehicle is faulty if you remove the rear windscreen.

Owners should take note and if for any reason your vehicle is to have the rear windscreen replaced you should have the technician inspect for rust.

Mercedes is fully aware of this fault and has a procedure in place, however there was no recall. The problem is caused by poor adhesion in the area of the MAG weld.
