Not necessarily true, you are not assured better quality by paying more. Many larger companies employ inexperienced technicians, or trainees to save money. You are not assured a quality job from an inexperienced windscreen technician.
However, its important to note there is a price point where quality must be sacrificed to deliver an extremely cheap product/service. If you insist on obtaining the absolute cheapest price, don’t be surprised if corners are cut and quality/safety is compromised.
Your windscreen is a structural component in your vehicle, a safety device. It supports airbag systems and assists in creating anti crumple zones designed to save a life in a collision.
Service 8® does not sacrifice job quality to deliver cheap prices. We offer the best quality at a price point that is affordable giving you the best value.
Consider this when price shopping. Not all auto glass repairers are the same.
Sure, if the damage is smaller than a 50c coin in size, the windscreen chip can be repaired. See our windscreen repair page for more information.
Auto glass repair companies use a variety of windscreen repair systems. Often these systems can have limitations/requirements, i.e, the chip must be 100mm from the edge of the windscreen, or the chip must be smaller than a 5c coin etc.
You may be told certain sized windscreen chips/cracks cannot be repaired because they are outside of the Australian Windscreen Standard. However, many companies make these rules up to suit. It’s not unusual for repairers to suggest the standard based on the limitations of their equipment, not the official Australian Standard.
We inject the damage with a special auto glass repair resin. When cured the visibility of the damage is reduced by approximately 80% and the windscreens structural strength is restored. This is a typical result providing you select a reputable windscreen repairer.
Some chips turn out cosmetically better than others. This depends on several factors such as, how long the chip has been exposed to weather, the type of impact, etc.
Your windscreen will not be brand new again. However, the structural strength will be restored and the chip will be less visible.
If you have many chips, scratches and marks, you may want to consider a replacement. Call us for advice.
Like most reputable auto glass shops Service 8® offers a Lifetime Warranty* on auto glass installations and chip repairs. There are conditions so please refer to the warranty conditions page for more info.
